A Few Good Men
CHARACTERS
CHARACTERS
Pfc. William T. Santiago (Victim): About 19 - 25 years old, sincere & sensible
Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson (Defendant): 21 to 30: stoic, serious, bold, aware, intimidating even in silence, caring in command
Pfc. Louden Downey (Defendant): 19 to 30. Obedient and respectful. His intelligence is slightly below average.
Lt. j.g. Daniel Kaffee (Lead Defense Attorney): 25 to 35. Easy-going and quick-witted. He is good-looking, talented, and smart; and he knows it. He tends to think that he knows everything. Kaffee's tactic is to charm and haggle his way toward the quickest, easiest solution. He doesn't want to work hard, nor does he want to test himself. Justice, or any sense that the cases he works have any moral implication, isn't a concern for Kaffee. The reason for his disinterest is his father.
Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway (Defense Attorney): 25 to 35. All-business. JoAnne Galloway, the only lead female character in the play is a navy lawyer in her early 30's. She's bright, attractive, impulsive, and has a tendency to speak quickly. She’s worked hard to come as far as she has and always use my heart, passion, and experience to pursue her goals. However, she sometimes gets into trouble for saying exactly what she thinks ALMOST as fully composed as she would like to be but, usually, more composed than others tend to think. Her quick wit tends to take others by surprise.
Lt. j.g. Sam Weinberg (Defense Attorney): 25 to 35. Laid back, he does his job with reasonable diligence, but he is a family man first and foremost.
Capt. Isaac Whitaker (JAG supervisor): 40+. Smart and sensible, not strict
Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep (GITMO CO): Late 30s to 50s. Self-confident to-a-fault. Bold, Intelligent, Ultra-Military, Tyrannical. Jessep does not tolerate any questioning of his orders or authority and responds to such with barely restrained rage. Any perceived disrespect or insufficient respect, which basically means anyone who dares to act like he's not an absolute authority, brings out Jessep's nasty side. Every scene (especially the flashback) makes clear that Jessep wants absolute authority over every single little thing that happens in his base and retribution (which he and he alone shall order the execution of) on anything and anybody who makes said base sub-par by even the slightest margin.
Capt. Matthew Markinson (GITMO Winward XO): Late 30s to 50s. Stoic, logical, and strictly military. Served in Counter-Intelligence for 17 years.
Lt. Jonathan James Kendrick (GITMO Company Commander): 25 to 35. Stoic, fanatically religious, average intelligence but believes himself to be much smarter than he is.
Capt. Jack Ross (Prosecutor): 30+. A nice guy but not a sucker. Logical and sensible.
Cpl. Jeffrey Howard (Platoon-mate of victim and defendants): Early 21 to 30. Probably likable to fellow Marines, but snide to those outside the Corps.
Capt. Julius Alexander Randolph (Judge): Mid 40s to early 50s. Smart, sensible, fair.
Cmdr. Walter Stone (Doctor): 30+. Sensible but easily swayed

ADDITIONAL ROLES: Sentry, Lawyers, Marines, MPs, and etc. Various ages
